Digital Die Cut Products and Packaging

Custom die cut print does not have to be expensive or take forever to produce!

At Rogue Create and Print, we have invested in the latest digital die cutting technology. This production method allows our clients to print, cut, score and perforate small to medium sized booklets, brochures, products and packaging, in a fast and affordable timeframe.

While we will still be using traditional methods for longer runs of die cut items; this new approach to die cutting is incredibly cost effective in small volumes, with no need to spend hundreds of dollars on getting a new knife (or die) made for each unique new shape. Anything you want - so long as it fits on a 660mm x 320mm printed sheet.

What is custom die cutting?

Custom die cutting is a production process to create uniquely shaped printed products. First your design is printed on larger flat print sheets, and then these sheets move through a die cutting process to finish the item to a custom cut shape (plus scoring, perforating as required).

There are two ways to achieve a die cut product:

1. The first way, is the traditional method of manufacturing a sharp metal die, so that when pressed on the printed sheets, the die will create precise cuts, scores, slots, and tabs in a single flat blank. This method is available in high volume orders (qtys 500 or 1000+) and where additional embellishments, specialty stocks or larger print sizes are needed.
2. The second way is using digital die cutting. This is a computer-controlled process, where the PDF die (with defined cut, score and perforate paths), is keyed into a program, that then guides a robotic arm with various fine tipped knives along the programmed digital paths over the printed sheet. This method is available for low volume, small to medium sized items on our standard finishes.

The advantage of digital die cutting is the removal of physical steel dies, making short print runs accessible and more affordable, and way faster. The only pre-requisite is that the die shape needs to fit on a 660mm x 320mm sheet.
